Searchlight was quite the aged Shi and had seen quite a lot in his time. Wise in his ways, he’d sometimes take trips to the mountain temples of Lantasu to visit the Monks who’d welcome him with open arms. His younger companions Seonmul and Kinpaku were beginning to grow curious about the old Shi’s whereabouts on odd days like this and took it upon themselves to pester the old man into taking them with him. Now, he was a bit skeptical… But who was he to say no? After all, the Buddha was very welcoming of all who came to visit the temple, even if they just came out of curiosity! But the old Shi would make a point that there would be no funny business! Especially in the temple. Of course being the eager little things they were, Seonmul and Kinpaku agreed to the old man’s terms and followed him with an almost overwhelming eagerness. The two followed the silk maned onyx Shi with slight peps in their step as they weaved through thick forests and headed towards the mountain pass of Lantasu. They’ve never really traveled this close to the mountains before, their heads craning back to look up in amazement at the sheer size of them. That’s when they’d notice the small robed figures occasionally skirting the mountainside and the closer they looked, they’d be able to notice scattered temples and small structures decorating the mountain as well.
They nearly bumped into Old Light with how distracted they were, the Shi had suddenly stopped. Refocusing their attention, the two noticed two averaged height Monks approaching them with wide smiles,

“Old Light! What a pleasure to see you! I see you brought some friends!” The Monk speaking eyed the feral and short maned Hinshu behind the old Shi while his friend not so subtly slipped Searchlight a treat, “Welcome! Welcome!”

Seonmul purred as one of the Monks reached up to scratch his cheeks. Kinpaku was a little confused…

“Come in, come in. You know your way up.”

The Monks ushered the small group “inside,” retaking their positions on either side of the mountain trail’s entrance. It was a naturally formed path, it seemed, flattened out by years of Monks and visitors alike coming and going. Old Light would lead them up the mountainside with some pride in his step. Seonmul and Kinpaku followed suit slowly as they looked around. As they traveled up the mountainside, they’d notice intricate pieces carved into the mountain’s walls of God’s, depicting different ancient scenes considered sacred to the Monks. The scenes were detailed even to the finest point, a true work of artistic mastery. It made them curious as to how such pieces of art were managed! There were even a few depicting the Shi’vali of Shimora.
The walk up the mountain was a bit long but peaceful, the breeze was nice and the view was even more spectacular. They passed by several buildings all the while being greeted by various Monks who seemed more than happy to have them visiting, seemed like Old Light knew them all very well! When they reached the main temple, they’d find the area to be flourishing with life and they felt a wave of calm relaxation wash over them. Monks bowed to them in greeting occasionally before going about their day. Some were engaging in idle chatter while other were completing chores. There journey did not end here though and even now they could hear the slight rush of a waterfall located on the other side of the mountain. Old Light led them to a large temple that seemed to have been carved right out of the mountain… Something this large and extravagant must’ve taken centuries. They entered the temple only to find that it was bare of any artificial light, instead, the only thing illuminating the intricate paintings on the walls and massive statues that were scattered around the cave-like temple was from the sun itself. It took their eyes time to adjust to the dim lighting as the farther they entered, the darker it got. But they could hear the gentle rushing of water and the deep hums from something within the cave. That’s when the silhouettes came into view.
A large hulking feral was slightly hunched over, its head bowed with its temple pressed against that of a sphinx Hinshu. There was an odd marking painted on the Hinshu’s flank but they believed they could recognize the sphinx anywhere. Tales of him were told all over Shimora leaving some to be sceptical but it had become more and more apparent that the tales were very much real. The sphinx Shi was Bankei, considered to be the first and only Buddhist Shi’vali to have been considered the Buddha himself. It was quite the interesting situation. As they got closer they realized the feral was short maned and of an interesting color. To those who don’t know him, his name was Yeman… The Shi was faced with a lot of suffering throughout his years and as of recently, he’s been brought to the temple to help him find some inner peace. Bankei himself had been meeting privately with the feral, offering his calm aura and some friendly exercises to help Yema on his own soul searching. The two pulled away from each other, turning their heads to face the trio of Shi’s that had made their way into the temple. Old Light gave a short bow of his head, his two companions distracted by all that was around them. Yema growled slightly but relaxed as Bankei brushed against him, stepping down from the slightly elevated ground and hopping across a rather large stream that cut through the temple. The Monks didn’t want to disturb the natural flow of the mountain so the stream had remained throughout the temple’s construction.
Bankei bumped his temple rather affectionately against Old Light’s before greeting Seonmul and Kinpaku in a similar manner. After a moment, Yeman stepped down. Although his purr seemed more like a growl, there was friendly intent behind it. So this was where Old Light spent his time? But of course, their journey would not end there for Bankei had a day planned for them!
